Karen Ebbs
An Outer Reflection of an Inner Reality
In this colourful, reflective installation of large-scale oil paintings, sculptures and plexiglass mirrors, Karen Ebbs explores ideas relating to perception, interconnectedness, reflection
and reality.
As viewers move through the space, their reflections are drawn into luminous fields of
colour, gesture and abstraction - transforming them into both observer and participant. The work continues to evolve with each interaction, as boundaries collapse between self, space and art.
Mirrors - symbols of truth, illusion, or self-awareness - take on renewed clarity in this work. Rather than distort, they reflect a direct likeness fused with abstraction where distinctions
are dissolved. Ebbs is interested in exploring how the external world reflects our inner reality: we “see” what we expect to “see”.
At the heart of the work is colour: life-affirming, emotionally resonant, and transformative. In a time of ecological and social challenge, colour is used here as a quiet rebellion against grey apathy - to offer hope, presence and pause.
